Sustainable Growth Initiative

The Sustainable Growth Initiative (SGI) is a project of the GOH Foundation that partners with the private sector, governments, local communities, and other NGOs. We aim to empower individuals in developing nations by providing them with the tools needed to work their way out of poverty. Our strategic focus is on job creation and income generation for low-income communities and especially for women and youth primarily concentrating on the optimization of enterprise building centered on tourism and Information technology.

Established in June 2009, current projects in Ghana, Cameroon and the US provide poor and vulnerable populations with access to marketable skills training and certification programs, improved health services, and other critical resources to capitalize on economic opportunities and increase their incomes. Additionally, our investment funds in both Ghana and Botswana make disciplined investments — loans and/or equity, — in small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that yield both financial and social returns, which enables these SMEs to act as catalysts for job creation.

SGI has an unyielding commitment to accountability and requires partners and operators to abide by project impact metrics. Real-time data on all SGI projects is tracked in monitoring and evaluation systems — and lessons learned are shared among all our partners. A multi-stakeholder approach is a core value at SGI, allowing us to leverage our alliances for the highest impact as we work toward the goal of shared and sustainable development while improving the lives of individuals along the supply chain.
